10 Ways Bible Study calms overwhelmed moms

Hey busy mom – I’ve got a question for ya.  Does your blood pressure raise at the mention of the phrase, Bible Study?  Yes?

Did you know Bible study calms overwhelmed moms?

Most busy moms dislike the term, Bible Study (I did) and here’s why:

10 Ways Bible study calms overwhelmed moms; Learn to study and interpret Scripture on your own and grow your faith with short bursts of time in the Word.

Why overwhelmed moms don’t like “Bible Study”

1.)   It sounds like more work for an already stressed-out mama

2.)  It sounds like I need lots of tools like a heavy concordance and a ruler and highlighters and a flag dispenser and ain’t nobody got time for that!

     3.)  That’s too much work

     4.)  I’m already overwhelmed

     5.)  Nevermind, I don’t have time

6.)   It just sounds like too much work

7.)   I just need something short – I can barely get a sip of coffee in the morning before a kid comes stumbling into the room #noneoftheprivacy

All of those thoughts invaded my mind as a busy young mama.  In fact, there was no way I was fighting for time for Bible study when it was all I could do just to read the Daily Bread.  (Not knocking the Daily Bread – it’s a great tool, plus good reading to keep on the back of the commode for certain rare solitary moments.)

However…I missed digging deep into Scripture like I did back in my single days. I missed a deeper connection with God and the power boost I received tapping into the riches of Scripture.

Much of the time in my early rearing days, I skipped Bible study because I was too tired, too busy, and too overwhelmed.  Even taking time for that Daily Bread was a stretch.

Young mamas desire rejuvenation from God’s Word, but they lack time and energy to access that.

    …or do they?

Can overwhelmed moms really do Bible Study?

If you are nodding your head to that statement, you’re probably thinking something like this:

1.)  I know if I had time for Bible study, it would help my attitude towards my family.

2.)   I miss a deeper connection with God

3.)  I’d like to delve deeper, but I just don’t know how

4.)  Is there a way to study the Bible simply?

The answer to all of those is yes.  And I can tell you how to do that – but  first, what if you don’t look forward to Bible study?

What if I’m not excited about Bible Study?

The category of moms who just can’t get excited about the prospect of studying God’s Word?

Why should I study God’s Word?  How will that lower my stress levels?  Who says Bible study calms overwhelmed moms?

First of all, this is not a guilt trip.  There are no guilt trips on this blog – only encouragement for you to walk in God’s grace to be the best version of yourself to His glory that you can be.

So consider this encouragement from a mama who’s been in your shoes – one who oftentimes said in her heart, What’s in it for me?

10 ways Bible study calms overwhelmed moms; study Scripture with short bursts of time

10 Ways Bible Study calms overwhelmed moms

1.)  God’s Word brings deep, inner peace

2.)  God’s Word will direct your decisions

3.)  God’s Word will speak directly to you

4.)  God’s Word will give you strength

5.)  The more you delve into God’s Word, the more excited you get to delve into God’s Word

6.)  God desires to speak to you

7.)  God’s Word is His love letter to you.

8.)  You will be equipped to glean nuggets of truth from God’s Word on your own!

9.)  You will develop confidence to interpret what God’s Word says without someone else telling you what it says.

10.)  A deeper relationship with Christ will help you overcome words and actions you never thought possible!
