Last summer I was surprised to find shark’s teeth on the Gulf of Mexico.
For years, I’ve traveled to the gulf of Florida with my husband. For years, I’ve visited beaches in South Carolina with my family. For years, we’ve picked up shark’s teeth in Myrtle. And for years, I’ve never seen any on the gulf.
For years, I assumed there were no sharks in the gulf–except for television hype.
Enter July, 2016.
In the gulf of Florida.
Hubby and I took a stroll on a small, lovely island and decided to look for shark’s teeth.
And we found shark’s teeth.
There goes my theory.
To the mommy surprised by her anger
It’s just like anything in life. You’re tooling along, thinking, “Oh, I don’t need to be careful, I don’t have a problem with that.”
You have a problem.
Such as your temper.
Let me guess. I’ll bet you never thought you had anger issues…
until the kids were born.
Take a few night’s missed sleep with a newborn…
throw in a toddler (in the Terrible-Twos or Worse-Willed-Threes)
THE DRAGON MOMSTER.
If this sounds familiar and you’ve been caught totally off guard by mama-anger, let me assure you, friend: you are not alone.
And so, here you are, in the drudgery days of rearing. Maybe you’re in the infant/toddler days.
Perhaps you’re in the middle school, “I’d-forget-my-head-if-it-weren’t-attached” phase.
Or maybe you have threenagers.
Yes, I know someone who actually has three-nagers. Twin 17 year-olds and a 16 year-old (where exactly was birth control when this mama was young? Never mind, we all have accidents – including your’s truly).
The point is–the sharks are circling. Or rather, one Main Shark; the Enemy.
And He wants to hit you where it hurts.
God knew all about this Enemy before your kids were born. And He has news for you!
You can overcome that Shark!
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, Who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation also will make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. ~I Corinthians 10:13, NKJV
I’ve been there, mom. I know how it is. I know you are struggling, even just to get a few minutes alone in the bathroom. But God is there, even in your bathroom or your laundry pile. And He wants to help you!
